Maximizing your child's potential to communicate confidently

Testimonials

Eleanor was amazing with my son, Jace!  The calming, relaxed tone of her voice worked miracles on Jace.  She was able to teach him to do correct breathing techniques and relax his face and throat in order to reduce his stuttering.

I would highly recommend her speech services.  Eleanor is a very kind person and also sincerely interested in helping pursue your child's goals.

Eleanor's approach to therapy is very gentle yet thorough, she takes great care to make the lessons fun for the kids with encouragement to practice and also provides a detailed assessment, plan, and follow up.  In a short period of time working with Eleanor, my daughter's speech was markedly improved.

We were initially referred to Eleanor for vocal therapy for our 10 year old son.  At the time, he spoke in a monotone voice.  She helped him with his speech intonation and also his tendency to speak too loudly.  Learning to control his [voice] helped him out tremendously with reading out loud and with his comprehension as well.  Eleanor later began expressive language therapy with him also.

My son has loved working with Eleanor.  She offered personalized therapy that was still fun for him.  He has worked with speech therapists earlier where it was not enjoyable for him.  He had fun but  most importantly, made strides and improved his vocal intonation and also his expressive language.  Eleanor has also been great in updates after therapy sessions, also giving us tips on what to work on at home.  I also really liked how she incorporated his speech therapy with his schoolwork.  I have seen his reading and writing improve since his therapy.

We heartily recommend Eleanor.  She works wonderfully with children and provides them with fun and effective therapy.  She was very accessible, easy to talk to and work with, and answered our questions.

Dear Eleanor,

When our pediatrician suggested we take our son to a speech therapist we were, like most parents, concerned and anxious about what it meant for our son.  Our pediatrician gave us your business card and with that, we were off to a new experience.  The first meeting with you and our son led to such a feeling of relief and hope!  We still remember how comfortable you made our son and us feel and noticed a connection with him right away.  You took the time to explain the speech process and patiently answered our questions and calmed our concerns.  After our first visit we knew our son was not only in a nurturing environment, but also one that was going to help him realize growth and his potential.  On the days he would go to see you, he would excitedly announce that he was going to school to see his teacher.  That clearly showed us that we made the right choice to come to you.  Within months, we noticed the improvement in his speech - the clarity of pronounciation and phonetic sounds, the desire to speak more and a decrease in frustration.  Even our pediatrician was pleased with his progress!  Our son is attending preschool now and enjoying every minute of it.  Hearing him talk to his friends and teachers is such a joy and gift - you helped make it possible.

Thank you, Eleanor, for all you have imparted to our son.  You broadened his world and helped us all be a part of it!

Warm regards,

-S. and K. Shuey

I feel very fortunate that my daughter completed extensive therapy with Eleanor before starting kindergarten.  I am so glad that my daughter was able to focus on her school work and developing her social skills, rather than have to be taken out of the classroom for "Speech."

Eleanor looks at the whole child; she was very insightful about my daughter's personality and the interplay between my daughter's behavior patterns and speech delay.  I was very impressed with Eleanor's resourcefulness in dealing with my daughter, as well as her creativity and open-mindedness.  She is very devoted to her work with children.  Not only does she have the credentials, but she truly cares.

Ms. Ellie-

We want to thank you for all of the time, effort and heart you put into the preparation for each class. As I sit and observe during the sessions, it is very obvious that all of your experience and natural ability motivated my daughter to grow by working hard through your creative activities.  It is so important that the element of fun is included in this type of education, since it is a lot of work to stay focused on learning a new skill while breaking an old habit.

As you know, we started with you first and then found out a few weeks later that my daughter was eligible to receive speech classes at school.  We decided to continue with your private classes, along with the classes in school, in hopes that this would help our daughter progress. I can confidently say that doing both has made a huge difference in her progress.

As a parent, you realize that you can't control all the trials and tribulations your child will face through life.  But, if you can give them guidance, support, love and the tools to work through them, you have fulfilled your responsibility as a parent.  Being able to communicate clearly is such a big part of having confidence.  Thank you for helping us as parents to raise a confident daughter.

We were referred to Eleanor through a summer program that our son had attended and I'm so glad we reached out to Eleanor!!  We've had at least 4 other SLPs (all of whom we thought were average/above average) that have provided service to our son who has high functioning ASD and Eleanor truly has them beat.  Not only did Eleanor quickly identify his deficits but she was very practical in her approach and recommendations so the applicability was very functional for his life - this is very important to us and him in daily activities of living.  Additionally, she is very meticulous and detailed oriented, communicating frequently (verbal, email, etc) and providing us with greater insights into his needs from a language perspective.  I also appreciate that she's always on the look out for new info, not only to enhance her own knowledge, but passes it along to me in a very appropriate and tactful manner.  She has hooked us up with a social/play therapist for our son so it's very clear that she has good intentions and understand the global approach with ASD.  Overall, I highly recommend Eleanor as a SLP professional and as a truly caring and conscientious individual.

As a single father, it is important to not only find quality, compassionate care for my child, but also to feel confident that the professional I am working with is sensitive to my child’s and family’s need’s. After doing quite a bit of research on local providers, I found Eleanor to have the accessibility and professionalism we were looking for. For me, the hallmark of a specialist is one who works with the family according to their unique needs, and doesn’t take a one size fits all approach. Eleanor’s treatment plan was clear, follow‐up timely, and sensitivity exemplary.

My son advanced very significantly after a series of sessions.  If someone is having doubts about beginning therapy for their child, do not hesitate.  [Eleanor] is good and has lots of experience.

Thank you Eleanor.
